On behalf of King Faisal University, I am pleased to welcome you to the official site of the University and I am pleased to welcome you on behalf of my brothers and sisters on the staff of the Center for Information Technology in the site of the Center. It was the beginning of entering the university in the era of informatics and computer since the eighties, where the set up of Information Technology Center was under the name of the university's information center in the year 1404 AH corresponding to 1984. The University leads the way for other universities and educational institutions to take advantage of sophisticated computer techniques in an early investment of material resources, human and technological resources so as to data archiving and processing. The university used the techniques of many diverse techniques, starting with the Mainframe companies such as IBM to the end of what is achieved by giant computer companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, Sun and other companies in the world, known today as information technology.
The Center for Information Technology has seen a number of university developments in the area of servers, operating systems and types of networks, which rely on the university through a network of fiber-optic link to the location-Ahsa and Dammam and Al Khobar. In the year 2004 according to a systematic plan and has been upgrading the network of major universities in each of the Al-Ahsa and Dammam into a full operating speeds of Giga Bit in addition to the replacement of all transformers and exchange necessary to support this technology. The Center's work during this period, the introduction of several new regulations to address data archiving has been the application of certain operating systems and applications of modern networks and systems, including Unix, Windows XP, Windows 2003,
In mid-1425, specifically on Saturday 21/6/1425 AH moved to the Information Technology Center at its new premises in the university, located in the south-west of the main entrance for the University to become the new headquarters of the electronic services of university.
The center provides information technology services to many of the employees of the university faculty, students, staff and services Applied Systems, maintenance, training, electronic communications, and statistical processing and Internet services and e-mail, which are provided free of charge to employees of the university. The Center to develop and manage the official website of the University on the Internet, which is a major gateway to many of the services offered by the University for its employees and visitors to the site. And the Center aims to support the academic process through which plants spread to colleges to take charge of its operation, the Center is also developing a number of academic systems such as the acceptance and registration as well as some university programs and administrative regulations that the university seeks beyond the automation of administrative work to be the backbone of every computer process at the university. And the Center includes the following sections: Section databases and application systems, the networks and operating systems, the maintenance and technical support, Web Services Section, Department of Education, and Training Section.
In conclusion, I wish that we had been successful in giving a clear picture of the university's Center for Information Technology and always ask God to reconcile in the efforts for the advancement of services we offer to employees of the university.
