|
|
Description |
Students are
going to design a steam boiler that produce steam at
pressure and temperature enough to operate a Turbine
that can produce an output power around 200w. The solar
energy will be collected by a concentrated collector and
directed through the boiler to produce the steam. The
design work will be focused at the collector and the
boiler only. |

-Waleed Al-Jathmi
|
|
Description |
This project is to design and build a firefighter robot
which can be controlled remotely. Robot will be used to
extinguish the fire instead of firefighters to protect
them from the dangers and to preserve their lives.
Students will use the knowledge that has been acquired
beside the knowledge needed to build the project. CAD
software will be used to create assemblies and create or
update parts and drawings. |

An Optimal Two-dimensional Functionally Graded Material Flywheel
Disk for Mechanical Energy Storage |
|
Advisor |
Dr. Mofid Mahdi |
| |
|
|
Students |
- Mohammed Zaki
- Ali Al-Habeeb
- Mahammed Al-Abid
- Ali Al-Nathirri
|
|
Description |
In this project the students are required to design and
test a jet engine which is considered as a type of
internal combustion engine or a reaction engine that
discharges a fast moving jet which generates thrust by
jet propulsion in accordance with Newton's laws of
motion. It typically consists of an engine with a rotary
(rotating) air compressor powered by a turbine ("Brayton
cycle"), with the leftover power providing thrust via a
propelling nozzle and it mainly can be used by jet
aircraft for long distance travel. |

Solar Updraft Tower
|
|
Advisor |
Dr. No’man Haimour |
| |
|
|
Students |
- Abdulaziz Al-Arfaj
- Abdulmohsen Bosanah
- Abdullah Al-Ammar
|
|
Description |
The solar
updraft tower is a renewable-energy power plant for
generating electricity from solar power. Sunshine
falling on a greenhouse-like collector structure around
the base of a tall chimney heats the air within it. The
resulting convection causes air to rise up the tower by
the chimney effect. This airflow drives wind turbines to
produce electricity. Since towers occupy significant
amounts of land, deserts and other low-value sites are
most likely.
A small-scale solar updraft tower may be an attractive
option for remote regions in developing countries. The
relatively low-tech approach could allow local resources
and labour to be used for construction and maintenance.
Solar updraft towers can be combined with other
technologies to increase output. Solar thermal
collectors or photovoltaics can be arranged inside the
collector greenhouse. This could further be combined
with agriculture. |

|
|
Description |
The aim of this project is to study, design, and
investigate safe grounding for various Industrial
distribution systems in different soil resistivity.
Project Objectives
- To provide safe methods to carry currents into the
earth without exceeding any equipment limit which makes
safe environmental work from the danger of critical
electrical shock.
- Conduct a comprehensive soil resistivity test to
determine the resistivity of variety of distribution
networks locations.
- Investigate and conduct special inspections to verify
bonding systems, ground resistance, and soil resistivity
of chosen distribution.

Integrated Management for the Recycling of Construction and
Solid Waste for Sustainable Building and Construction Materials |
|
Advisor |
Dr. Shahid Kabir |
| |
|
|
Students |
- Abdulmoez Al-Ismaiel
- Fahad Al-Saadoon
- Abdulaziz Bouaishah
|
|
Description |
Steady economic development in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia has increased expectations of its emergence as
one of the largest economies in the world, which has
also resulted in a vibrant and expanding building and
construction industry throughout the kingdom. This has
led to a rise in construction waste as well as other
solid waste, which is basically just sent to dump sites
on the outskirts of major cities. Discarding tons of
waste in Saudi Arabia has become an increasing
environmental concern, which needs to be addressed in
order to create awareness, sustainable integrated
management programs, and suitable recycling processes,
in order to obtain economic returns from the waste.
Through the development of sustainable construction and
building materials, and mandatory waste disposal
regulations, environmental goals can be achieved.
