About The College
The main goal for which King Faisal University was founded was to graduate Saudi Nationals in varying disciplines in applied medical sciences and human knowledge to serve their country and fulfill the fast growing needs in all areas including medical services.
For that reason the college of medicine was the first to be established. However, to cope with the rapidly evolving comprehensive health service needs of the society, the College of the Applied Medical Sciences was established to lead in providing graduates that are prepared to the highest level at providing needed services in supportive medicine.
There are a variety of educational and practical programs in the College, with the intention to fulfill society’s needs of prepared graduates in different curative and preventive medical areas, so that our country be able to cope with the rapidly advancing world in the areas of health and technology and translational research.
The College of Applied Medical Sciences started its educational mission by the establishment of the department Medical Laboratory Technology to graduate students with Bachelor degree who are prepared to carry out their expected role in health care services. Proudly, the first batch of master degree students will graduate in year 1428/1249 H
The college continued its growth by establishing the Respiratory Therapy program as one of the essential specialties needed to fulfill society needs and is considered the first of its type in the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.
Followed was the establishment of the Physical Therapy program. The Health Information Management and Technology program was then established as the first in the Kingdome with graduates with Bachelor degree, highly qualified in processing and retrieval of health information.
The college also established the Environmental Health program which was urgently needed in the Eastern Province to study and evaluate environmental problems and their effect on health of the local community and the Kingdome overall.
Recently the college started 2 new programs; the department of Radiology and the department of Cardiac Technology.

The college aspires to be an outstanding and leading center for the applied medical profession among all universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
College Mission:
The college mission is to occupy a leading role in serving the society and promote medical research by introducing specialized academic programs in applied health profession, and graduating professionals with the highest qualifications, abided with Islamic teachings, and utmost professionalism.
Administrative Organization:
The organizational structure of the college is composed of the dean of the college, vise dean for the academic affairs, the vise dean for training, chairmen of academic departments, together with the administration cadre.
College Objectives:
• To graduate students with the proper understanding of Islamic values, traditions and its proper application by all specialties.
• Prepare qualified graduates with the knowledge and skills essential to carry out services in hospitals, health centers and research centers in the Kingdom.
• Promote student attitudes to demonstrate proper professional behavior with patients and their families, and other coworkers.
• Achieve higher training standards in all college specialties by collaborating with the ministry of health and other universities.
• To develop the skills of the graduates by participating in scientific conferences and meetings inside the Kingdom and abroad.
•Providing community services by organizing lectures to raise health knowledge among community members.
•Improve student skills in scientific research methods.
•Establish postgraduate programs for the college graduates and other researchers in the Kingdom.
Admission Requirements:
Admission requirements for new students:
1.Must be a Saudi national.
2.Achieved the GPA determined by the university at the start of the academic year.
3.Pass the skills test performed in the university.
4.Pass the written examination.
5.Pass personal interview.
6.Pass physical test.
Teaching in the college extends for 4 years followed by a full year of internship. The college follows the annual system in general, and English is the official language of teaching. During the first year of college all students receive the same curriculum. On the second year each student selects the desired specialty. However, priority of acceptance by departments is given to students with highest grades.
Students receive their bachelor degree after the successful completion of 4 years of school and 1 year of internship. To be granted the degree, students must complete all requirements as determined by their respective departments.
Internship:
A Successful Completion Of A One Full Year Of Practical Experience In Places Approved By The University (E.G. Hospitals And Companies) Is Required. During This Year, Students Practice Their Profession Under Supervision Of The Department And Hosting Organization To Gain Professional And Practical Experience. The Internship Aims To:
•Support Practical Skills Of Graduates And Prepare Them For Successful Practice Of Their Profession
•Improve Knowledge Needed In Their Profession
•Improve Professionalisms And Appropriate Attitude
•Encourage Graduates For Continuous Education In Their Profession And Improve Their Abilities In Scientific Research
