About the IT Center:
The University established the headquarters IT center in Al-Ehsa in 1404. A that time the IT center used a machine of type IBM 4342 with a central memory of eight million characters and the number of printers and screens connected to the primary machine was around 150, divided into faculties and departments of the university in Al-Ehsa and Dammam branches. Due to the evolution of computer technology the primary machine was set to stop at the beginning of year 2000, and new technology of local network and operation system, WINDOWS NT, WINDOWS 95, UNIX was adopted accordingly also a fiber optic link was established in order to connect around 1200 PC divided for university branches ( EHSA, DAMMAM ).
The IT Center provide services ranges from application developments, technical support, training, electronic communications and statistical treatment. The IT center aims to support the process of academic path through labs scattered through colleges and automate the administrative procedures to be the backbone of every management process in the university and community service through develop some regulations for other governmental institutions.
The IT Center includes the following sections: Applications Development, computer networks, maintenance, Internet services, technical support, and training.
