Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
The royal approval was granted to establish the College of Applied Studies and Community Service at King Faisal University on 26/02/1422 H, to meet the scientific and professional needs of community members. Subsequently, under decision number (9/4/1442) dated 14/09/1442, approval was given to transform community colleges and applied studies colleges into applied colleges. Consequently, the college's name was changed to the Applied College, with its main campus located in the university city, and two branches, one in Al-Ahsa Governorate and the other in Al-Biqaiq Governorate.
In light of the roadmap outlined by Saudi Vision 2030 for economic and developmental work, aiming for the Kingdom to become a leading model at all levels, and striving for a prosperous future and sustainable development, the vision includes goals that enhance the Kingdom's strategic direction towards developing human resources. This is achieved by providing quality knowledge in priority areas, improving the readiness of youth to enter the labor market, expanding practical and vocational training to meet labor market needs, and improving educational and training outcomes at all stages, from early education to lifelong learning, to reach global standards. This is accomplished through educational and training programs that meet the fast-paced and evolving development needs of the era.
From these principles, the Applied College at King Faisal University aims to achieve its objectives by centering on the student and focusing on alignment with developmental goals and the private sector. This includes guiding students to the labor market more swiftly and broadening the targeted groups—secondary school graduates, job seekers, and those currently employed. In addition, the college has adopted a shift from theoretical education to practical education. Given that the labor market is one of the primary beneficiaries of the college's outcomes, the college allows the private sector to participate in shaping the college's plans and programs, as well as in training, qualification, and employment.
The work at the Applied College is based on methodologies, strategies, and innovative means to understand challenges, seize opportunities, and leverage strengths represented in the resources, capabilities, and infrastructure of King Faisal University. The college has also adopted effective tools for planning, activating private sector participation, implementing, and evaluating performance based on results and impact, setting interim targets for programs and specializations according to current and future needs. The college seeks to enhance the role of diploma degrees and make them a vital element with high outcomes compatible with labor market needs by focusing on specializations that contribute to the nation's economy and meet aspirations in line with Vision 2030. Investing in human capital is one of the successful investments and a pillar of a knowledge-based economy.
Allah is the Grantor of success.
