Introduction

The College of Computer Sciences and Information Technology is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence, development, and quality assurance. Its academic programs are designed to meet global educational standards, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and high-quality education that prepares them for success in the fields of computer science and information technology. The college's attainment of academic accreditation from ABET and NCAAA for its bachelor's programs serves as a key indicator of its commitment to delivering relevant and effective curricula. These programs aim to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. By maintaining high educational standards and emphasizing practical application, the college ensures that its graduates are not only academically prepared but also distinguished in competitive global industries.

The Development and Quality Assurance Committee is responsible for implementing these tasks to achieve quality standards in the educational process and academic programs. Additionally, it oversees the implementation of accreditation requirements for the college's programs to ensure the maintenance of both local and international accreditations. The committee also proposes development plans and organizes workshops for faculty members.

The most important tasks of the committee:

  • Follow up on everything issued by the National Authority for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation, and the Deanship of Development and Quality Assurance regarding quality and development, and circulate it to the various departments of the college
  • Evaluate the quality of the educational, research and service process in the college (self-evaluation), by conducting surveys or inquiries for individuals or beneficiaries
  • Disseminate the culture of quality and introduce it within the college, by holding internal courses for students, faculty members, technicians and administrators
  • Study the "course evaluation" reports conducted by college students, and come up with appropriate recommendations for each course, and discuss them with the head The relevant academic department
  • Follow up on the implementation of the course report and the program report with the academic departments in the college at the end of each semester or quarter, and receive the final reports of the workshops held by the departments to discuss the course and program reports. Implement the requirements of the quality management system at King Faisal University
  • Preparing an annual plan to determine the training needs of the college’s staff and following up on its implementation. Supervising and following up on orientation programs for new college members.
  • Proposing a mechanism to stimulate excellence and creativity in the performance of faculty members, and nominating distinguished ones for excellence awards at the college/university/community level.
  • Studying the transactions referred by the Dean of the College to the committee and expressing an opinion on them, and submitting the necessary recommendations regarding them.

Academic Accreditation

Since its inception, the College has been keen to achieve quality and type in its outputs, especially international quality standards, and makes this one of its main priorities. Therefore, the college is interested in evaluating its academic programs with international accreditation bodies on an ongoing basis and forms specialized committees to work on the continuous evaluation of the quality of outputs.

Therefore, a team from the Academic Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the United States of America visited the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at King Faisal University earlier, to evaluate and review the nine standards required by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) and verify their availability in the college's undergraduate programs: Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Networks and Communications. The college hosted the team consisting of: a president and an evaluator, for each of the college's programs, in addition to an observer from the National Commission for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation (NCAAA). Praise be to God, the college achieved all nine required standards without any defects that compromise quality and deserved, thanks to God, accreditation from ABET for a period of 6 years until 2029 for the following specializations:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Computer Networks and Communications
