of the World Veterinary Association (WVA)
The Saudi Veterinary Medical Association announced its joining the World Veterinary Association, with the aim of advancing the veterinary medicine profession, developing veterinarians and striving towards internationalism.
His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association, Professor Dr. Salah bin Abdulaziz Al-Shami, explained that this matter is a distinctive step to advance the profession of veterinary medicine and the veterinary staff and those affiliated with the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association, as the members of the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association with this step have become members of the World Veterinary Association.
His Excellency added that a member of the association will enjoy many advantages, the most important of which are: WVA provides data and information on major veterinary issues to support veterinary associations in various fields. WVA also provides a supportive global veterinary community and connects veterinarians around the world through its extensive veterinary network. It has a formal relationship with influential intergovernmental organizations and serves as the main link between the veterinary profession and global veterinary policy-making bodies such as the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). In addition, WVA actively cooperates with other non-governmental organizations such as the World Medical Association (WMA), World Animal Protection, the Global Alliance against Rabies and HealthforAnimals, and many bodies interested in veterinary and health issues, including Ensures that its opinions are communicated to the highest international levels.
His Excellency pointed out that WVA focuses on global health threats that affect all parts of the world, such as zoonotic diseases, antibiotic-resistant microbes, and cross-border diseases to take action against these threats. WVA also markets the veterinary profession globally by participating in global events such as Annual World Veterinary Day to highlight the vital contribution of the veterinary profession in serving community health and preserving livestock. Membership in the WVA also makes you able to vote directly in the World Veterinary Association and choose its leadership.
He also has the right to a seat in the General Assembly with a vote on global veterinary issues, and can receive help through a wide network of great speakers for its educational conferences. He can also attend veterinary conferences, exhibitions, seminars and workshops organized by WVA at a special price.
His Excellency urged all veterinarians to join the Saudi Veterinary Medical Association and renew their membership with the association in order to benefit from this distinguished partnership.
