Mechanical Engineering Program
The Mechanical Engineering program at King Faisal University (KFU)
has been since its inception in 1430H (2009) working hard to achieve
internationally recognized high quality academic standards. Educational excellence is
the central focus of all activities within the program. Our faculty and
staff take great pride in developing a curriculum that provokes students to
think deeply, broadly and independently to prepare them to be leaders in engineering
and other professions. The dual emphasis on fundamental concepts and
design innovation in our curriculum equips our graduates to address and solve
the most complex technological and societal challenges.
Our laboratory
facilities are well equipped and well maintained. Our laboratory engineers and
technicians are very dedicated and knowledgeable. Students learn all the
important practical skills needed by the industries from the laboratory courses
offered in the program.
We have multicultural faculty members with wide range of
exposure in the academic and in the industry sectors. They stay active in
research and periodically publish papers in reputed international academic
conferences and in archival journals.
Career opportunities for the mechanical engineering at national
and regional levels are very high because the Mechanical Engineering is the
broadest and most versatile among all engineering disciplines. Just to name a
few, the Mechanical Engineer plays a central role in many industries such as
power generation, energy conversion, oil and gas, automotive, manufacturing,
microelectromechanical systems, aerospace, and environmental control (HVAC)
systems.
We are regularly assessing our program with systematic feedback
from our students and alumni, faculty, the department's external team of
industrial experts, and the industry employers. The continuous hard work and
systematic improvement of the program were culminated by applying for the
international accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and
Technology (ABET) in 2014. The ME program has proudly been awarded the ABET
accreditation through September 2021.
I welcome you to the
Department of Mechanical Engineering!
