This program is research-based and puts emphasis on independent research carried out by a student, supplemented with courses to expand the student's knowledge in medical biochemistry and molecular biology. Over the past years, the Division of Biochemistry in the Department of Biomedical Sciences has carried out research projects within the department and in collaboration with other divisions within the medical school. Some of these research projects were interdisciplinary and dealt with medical issues such as hemoglobinopathies, diabetes, and the genetics of these diseases. The Program is conducted at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine of King Faisal University. This Department is equipped with various basic and specialized labs for students teaching and research work. Students work under the supervision of highly skilled faculty, and there is continuous guidance regarding academics and research.
The MSc program is designed to prepare students to undertake independent research, hold academic positions in biochemistry and molecular biology departments as well as work in medical laboratories and industry.

Awarding the degree of Master of Medical Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (MSc) indicates that the candidate has completed the required core courses of postgraduate training and the required research course under proper academic supervision. In addition, approval of the dissertation by internal and external examiners, endorses that the candidate has shown a significant contribution to knowledge and research in the required field. This dissertation demonstrates the candidate's capability to carry out independent research.
The degree of a "Master of Medical Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (MSc)" will be awarded following the successful defense of the Master thesis.
Duration: 2 years extendable to 4 years
