Overview

In the current era of digital transformation, computer networks and cybersecurity play a critical role in shaping how communication and business operations are conducted. The Department of Computer Networks and Communications is committed to providing students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to succeed in these rapidly evolving fields. The Networks and Communications Department at King Faisal University aims to deliver high-quality education and training in the areas of networking and cybersecurity.

The Bachelor’s program in Computer Networks and Communications began in the academic year 2012–2013. It is internationally accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), providing students with a strong foundation in networking technologies and systems. The Master’s program in Cybersecurity was launched in the academic year 2020–2021. It aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in protecting computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. The program offers a rich, multidisciplinary curriculum focusing on information security, its underlying technologies and vulnerabilities, as well as critical topics such as network security, cryptography, enterprise security analysis, legal and ethical issues, and more.

Goals

The Department of Computer Networks and Communications strives to prepare distinguished graduates who possess the competence and knowledge required in the fields of networking and cybersecurity, by achieving the following educational objectives:

  • To be proficient in applying technical knowledge and skills in the field of computer networks.
  • To contribute to society by providing solutions to computer network problems.
  • To be capable of self-learning, pursuing graduate studies, and professional development, while demonstrating relevant professional, legal, and ethical practices.
  • To be a leader or an active member of a multidisciplinary team working to solve problems in various fields.
