Computer Networks and Communications Department
Introduction
The goal of the Department of Networks and Communications at King Faisal University is to provide high-quality education and training in the fields of networks and cybersecurity. The department offers two distinguished programs:
- Bachelor's Program in Computer Networks and Communications.
- Master's Program in Cybersecurity.
Bachelor's Program in Computer Networks and Communication
The program started in the 2012-2013 academic year and is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). It provides students with a solid foundation in networking technologies and systems. The program focuses on four main areas. First, fundamental sciences such as mathematics, physics, and biology courses, which help students develop the analytical skills needed and learn essential scientific principles. This area is complemented by humanities courses. Second, computer science and engineering, covering the basic background in electronics, computer engineering, and programming. Third, networking and communications, which introduces both basic and advanced concepts in network design, simulation, modeling, programming, and systems management. Finally, business concepts and the role of information systems in organizations provide a comprehensive view of how IT is used in the market.

Master's Program in Cybersecurity
The Master's in Cybersecurity program started in the 2020-2021 academic year. It aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills to protect computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. The program offers a rich, multidisciplinary curriculum focused on information security, its technologies, and vulnerabilities, as well as critical topics like network security, cryptography, enterprise security analysis, legal, and ethical issues. Graduates of this program will be able to stay updated with rapidly changing technology, adapt to, and control new threats, and start successful careers in enterprise security.
- Equip individuals with the relevant skills and technical knowledge in cybersecurity to protect and defend computer networks and systems.
- Develop individuals capable of leading teams of cybersecurity professionals tasked with analyzing information security, network architecture, operations, and monitoring for organizations.
- Prepare individuals capable of formulating long- or short-term security strategies for organizations.
