About the Department

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the College of Dentistry, King Faisal University, is responsible for teaching the core basic medical sciences within the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. The department provides instruction in various biomedical disciplines, including gross anatomy for dentists, histology (microscopic anatomy), microbiology and immunology, physiology, biochemistry, systemic pathology, neuroscience, and pharmacology. Additional courses offered by the department include dental anatomy and occlusion, clinical pharmacology, and craniofacial growth and development. In addition to teaching basic medical sciences, the department is committed to advancing research in biomedical sciences, applied and translational research, and promoting medical and dental education through innovative academic practices.
