                       About the department 



The Mathematics department is one of the main departments in the Faculty of Science since its inception in the year 1423 H corresponding to the year 2002 AD. The department establishment go back department to 1400 H corresponding to 1980 AD when it was one of the practical departments in the Faculty of Education in the University whereas its educational scheme was aiming for the graduates to be qualified for working in the education sector adjoining the department to the Faculty of Science, the educational scheme has been changed to be compatible with the mission of the Faculty of Science so it came to be  aiming for the preparation of high quality scientific cadres which have the skill and logicality to tackle the scientific issues as well as qualifying the graduate to work in the field of scientific research and in the sectors of education, banking, accounting and insurance.

    The department provides the following two programs: 

1)     The Bachelor program in mathematics, whereas the graduate obtains a Bachelor's degree in mathematics after completing 128 credit hour. 

2) The master's program in mathematics, which began in the academic year 1420-1421 H, corresponding to the year 2000 AD. The duration of study is six semesters and the graduate obtains the master's degree in mathematics after completing 42 credit hours or 24 credit hours with a letter. 

The Department has a selection of faculty members in different disciplines in the field of mathematics in addition to a number of assistant professors of both sexes and repeaters as the department has computer labs.
