The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. FAO is also a source of knowledge and information. We help developing countries and countries in transition modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices and ensure good nutrition for all. Since our founding in 1945, we have focused special attention on developing rural areas, home to 70 percent of the world's poor and hungry people. |

The Arab Board of Health Specializations Damascus, Syria P.O.Box 7669 Phone +963 11 6119249 Fax +963 11 6119259 e-mail mail@cabms.org |
|
The Arab Board of Health Specializations was founded in order to meet the need for doctors trained in medical specializations in the Arab World. Previously, doctors who had gone abroad for health specialization training had faced financial burdens and many other obstacles. In addition, the region lost the services of these doctors when they were trained outside. Specialization training was beginning in many areas of the Middle East, and medical educators realized that it was necessary to standardize this training. The Council of Arab Health Ministers founded the Board in 1978 after years of discussion, and the following year, basic guidelines and the structure of the Board were established. |
