Open Data

Introduction

Open data refers to data that can be freely accessed by anyone without technical, financial, or legal restrictions. It can be used, modified, and shared for any purpose, provided that the legal licensing requirements under which the data was published are respected.

Terms of Use

Open Data Users:

King Faisal University allows users of its electronic portal to access open data at their own responsibility, and provides such data free of charge to all users.

Users’ Responsibility:

Users are responsible for the reuse of open data available on the University’s electronic portal. Such reuse must not lead to any errors related to the data content, source, or date.

King Faisal University’s Responsibility:

  1. King Faisal University shall not be held liable for any damage or misuse incurred by any party as a result of using the data published on its electronic portal.
  2. King Faisal University assumes no responsibility for any damages incurred by users as a result of using this data.
  3. King Faisal University reserves the right to delete or modify the open data published on its electronic portal.

Reuse Conditions:

  1. The user must not distort or misrepresent the data or its source.
  2. The data must not be used for political purposes or to support any illegal or criminal activities. Furthermore, it must not be used in any racist or discriminatory content, incitement, or in any activity that negatively impacts culture or equality, promotes unlawful behavior, or violates the customs and traditions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  3. When using this data, the source must be clearly acknowledged as (King Faisal University Electronic Portal). A link to the University’s electronic portal must also be included to preserve the intellectual property rights, credibility, and authenticity of the data source.

Usage Guidelines:

  1. Users have the right to easily access the required data, either by searching using keywords or by browsing the category under which the data is classified.
  2. Users are entitled to download, open, browse, and use the data in Excel format through Microsoft Excel, including sorting and filtering the data.
  3. Users may integrate the open data with other software, such as smartphone applications or other applications (through extensions without the need to download them to a computer), by accessing the data directly via the file link.

King Faisal University provides all beneficiaries with the ability to request access to open data. The data is available in multiple formats to facilitate processing and reuse, enhance transparency, and encourage electronic participation.
