A medical team at Veterinary Teaching Hospital in King Faisal University conducts a laparoscopic surgery for an Arabian Mare

A medical team at the veterinary hospital of the College of Veterinary Medicine at King Faisal University has recently conducted a surgical operation using laparoscopy to remove lymphatic sacs from the womb of an Arab horse suffering from infertility. This operation was conducted at the horse-breeding clinic in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
The Head of the Clinical Studies Department of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor of Fertility and Reproduction Techniques, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Khalid Al Haidar carried out the operation and assisted by a medical team composed of Vet. Mohammed Bin Fahad Al-Salman, hospital surgery specialist and the postgraduate student, Omar bin Saad Al-Nowais.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Haidar explained that this operation is the first of its type in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, stressing that the success of this type of operations is going to contribute to the treatment of many similar cases in the Arabian mares and female-camels. He added that such an operation reduces the economic losses of breeders and maintains the progressive production from mares whose genetic qualities are needed.
