The graduate programs at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources had the leadership at the university level as the faculty was one of the first faculties in which the graduate studies had begun, it started in 1409 with the Masters program in Animal Health (in the branch of preventive medicine and laboratory diagnosis), and added more programs, the most recently was in 1428 which is a master's degree program in medicines. The following are some information that are iimportant for the concerned with these programs.

 

 

Master of Animal Health (two programs)

 

Program of preventive medicine:

The program aims to provide the skills involved in addressing the problems of animal health such as viral and bacterial epidemics. To this end, the student builds skills that help him in dealing easily with the sources of veterinary information such as scientific journals and specialized periodicals. The program also consists of theoretical lectures and different practical lessons of that would further widen the circle of information of the student. On the other hand, the field visits and panel discussions (seminars) with the specialized professors of the faculty are important pillars that support the program.

 The program requires that the applicant should have a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine or a similar certificate from admitted universities in addition to passing the supplementary courses required by the department in some specialities.

 

Masters Degree Requirements:

Master's program includes 36 subjects covered in a minimum of two years divided into four terms as follows:

1.  21 subjects of compulsory courses.

2.  6 subjects of elective courses.

3.  1 subject for seminar.

4.  8 subjects for the master.

 

The laboratory diagnosis program:

The program aims to provide the skills involved in diagnosing the disease of animals using the latest technology in order to satisfy the need of different sectors of specialists in this area. Therefore, the program includes advanced courses in diagnostic microbiology, clinical parasitology, and pathology, as well as the advanced Course in Biostatistics. The actual participation of the student in the diagnosis of cases transferred to the veterinary hospital  contributes to the refinement of his experience under the supervision of professors of the Faculty before graduation.

The program requires that the applicant should have a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine or a similar certificate from admitted universities in addition to passing the supplementary courses required by the department in some specialities.

Master of Veterinary Anatomy

 

The program aims at training and preparation of scientific cadres in the field of developmental anatomy and optic anatomy, cell biology, chemistry of the cell, tissue science, and science of  physiology, by introducing modern technology and scientific research methods in planning, analysis and recording the results of research projects for them.

The program requires that the applicant should have a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine or a similar certificate from admitted universities in addition to passing the supplementary courses required by the department in some specialities.

Master of Birth,  Breeds and Artificial Insemination

 

The program aims to qualify students for clinical skills at a high level in the specialization of Birth Breeds, artificial insemination and embryo transfer, and professional standing to the problems of fertility and infertility in animals of local breeds in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, and finding the necessary solutions for these problems on  accurate scientific bases.

The program requires that the applicant should have a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine or a similar certificate from admitted universities in addition to passing the supplementary courses required by the department in some specialities.

Masters of Pharmacology

 

The Master's program in medicines and treatment aims at qualifying cadres in the field of medicines in veterinary medicine, the Saudi Food and Drug, factories and companies of medecines, and quality laboratories, it also aims at the detection of drug residues and hormones, studying pharmacology and its techniques in detail, Preparing qualified scientific and professional efficiencies in pharmacology to assist in the work of environment health, the Saudi authority of Food and drug, pharmaceutical factories, veterinary clinics pharmaceutical companies, veterinary pharmacies, teaching, research and quality laboratories.

The program requires that the applicant should have a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine or a similar certificate from admitted universities in addition to passing the supplementary courses required by the department in some specialities.
