About the Department (Department Overview)

The Department of Agricultural Business and Consumer Sciences specializes in theoretical and applied sciences related to economic theories and basic sciences in management and economics responsible for agricultural production and business related to the production of food industries and agricultural product derivatives. The study plan in this field has been prepared to conform to the progressive developments occurring in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through economic growth. To qualify the student to obtain an applied academic degree that facilitates his/her participation in nation-building. Therefore, the Department of Agricultural Business and Consumer Sciences prepares the student to acquire the basic science in management and accounting in agricultural economics business, the applicable regulations, marketing management in the agricultural sector, public funding, and quantitative and qualitative analysis in making practical economic decisions, so that he/she can work effectively in these broad and significant fields. He/she can simultaneously serve himself/herself and the surrounding community around him/her. Because of the changes and growth in global demand for food and agricultural materials, graduates of agricultural science colleges face a significant increase in the need to know how to make the right decisions that need to be fully informed in agricultural policies, global food trade, maximizing the use of natural resources, consumer demand for food and environmental safety. This is also highlighted in the department's new study plan.

Vision

Achieving scientific excellence in the fields of agricultural business management economics and consumer sciences to ensure the quality of education, scientific research, and community service, in order to contribute to the economic development of the agricultural sector.

Mission

Provide the students with the knowledge and skills that qualify them to deal with global economic developments and achieve research accomplishments in the fields of agricultural business management economics and consumer sciences in accordance with the missions of the college and the university.

Goals 

  1. Preparing a graduate who is familiar with economic knowledge and concepts in the field of agribusiness and consumer science, capable of enhancing performance for the development of agricultural sectors.

  2. Preparing a professional graduate who can adapt to various variables to achieve economic efficiency and productivity in the entities where he/she works.

  3. Serving the community in various agricultural fields by providing scientific consultations to institutions and training employees to improve productive performance. 

  4. Guiding the areas of scientific research to elevate the agricultural sector and generate agricultural development, especially in the fields of marketing, the economics of resource use and production, and economic feasibility studies.

  5. Training students on how to compile statistical data and information and deal with them to find solutions to problems.

  6. Provide the graduate with the skills to use economic and statistical methods and tools to help him/her address different agricultural issues.
