Department of Arid Land Agriculture
About the department
The Arid Land Agriculture Department focuses on teaching the basic sciences related to horticulture, crop science, and plant protection science, with the aim of improving plant production, increasing its geographical area, and protecting it from all plant pests and diseases.
The study plan in this major has been designed to contribute to the development and scientific qualification of the student who, after graduation, can contribute to the agricultural renaissance in the governmental and private sectors, in addition to preparing him to participate in the fields of scientific research and community service in all aspects of plant production. Courses were chosen that provide horizontal coverage of basic sciences in the fields of horticulture, crop science, and plant protection. Applied courses have also been selected that focus on areas closely related to agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, so that they enable the student to have a good understanding of the basic areas of specialization and give him sufficient diversity and flexibility that qualifies him to undertake any future task in the fields of horticultural sciences, crop sciences, or plant protection sciences.
