About the Department (Department Overview)

The Department of Environment and Agricultural Natural Resources focuses on teaching the sciences related to the natural environmental systems available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the surrounding conditions. The department aims to provide the student with the fundamental concepts related to the conservation of the environment and its components of various natural agricultural resources (soil, water and plants) from degradation and pollution in order to preserve its productive capacity and increase the efficiency of its uses for its optimal independence administratively and economically, which contributes to the development and growth of the agricultural sector and its productive capacities in the Kingdom in general. The study plan for this specialization has been prepared in a way that incorporates important advantages, related to the requirements of the labour market while maintaining the graduate's Academic competence. Courses have been selected to provide horizontal coverage of the basic sciences related to economics and policies of the environment, water, and natural resources. As for the Applied courses, they have been chosen to complement what has been covered in the core courses. The focus has been on areas closely related to the Saudi environment and agricultural natural resources in the Kingdom. In shaping these courses, consideration has been given to providing the necessary information that enables students to have a good understanding of the core areas of specialization and to provide them with sufficient diversity and flexibility to qualify them for any future tasks in the fields of environment, water, and agricultural natural resources.

Vision

The department aims to achieve a distinctive academic standing locally and internationally in higher education, scientific research, and community service within the fields of environment, water science, irrigation and agricultural natural resources.

Mission

Qualifying the graduate with distinctive scientific and technical qualifications in the disciplines offered by the department, enabling him to become professionally competent in line with the requirements of the labour market and with a high ability to keep up with developments in his field of specialization.

Goals 

  1. Qualifying specialized cadres in the fields of environmental sciences, natural resources and water sciences who are capable of pursuing self-education, scientific research and addressing future challenges and developments.

  2. Offering modern educational programs and organizing workshops, counseling colloquiums, and conferences in the fields of environment, natural resources, and water sciences, in alignment with the latest local and global developments.

  3. Conducting specialized scientific research and enhancing and developing applied research in the fields of environment, natural resources and water sciences.

  4. Providing specialized scientific consultations in the fields of environment, natural resources and water sciences, as well as establishing channels for cooperation and communication with government agencies, the private sector and relevant research centers locally and internationally.
