Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition
About the department
The Department of Food and Nutrition Sciences is concerned with teaching basic and applied sciences related to the field of food, including preservation, manufacturing, evaluation and analysis, in addition to fields related to individual and community nutrition.
The study plan in this specialization is designed to contribute to the development and academic qualification of the student, enabling him after graduation to work in food and dairy factories, in addition to working in health facilities, whether governmental or private, and preparing him to participate in the fields of scientific research and community service. Courses were chosen that provide horizontal coverage of basic sciences in the areas of food science and nutrition. Applied courses have also been selected that focus on areas closely related to the food industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, so that they enable the student to have a good understanding of the basic areas of specialization and give him sufficient diversity and flexibility to qualify for future tasks in the fields of technology and the food industry.
By the grace of God Almighty, the Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition - the Food Science and Technology Program - obtained a certificate of international academic accreditation from the Canadian Agricultural Commission (AIC) in Muharram 1434 AH, corresponding to November 2012 AD.
