About the Department (Department Overview)
The Department of Livestock and Fish Production focuses on the theoretical basis and practical applications of animal, poultry, and fish production sciences to develop national cadres to work in government institutions, institutes and academic and research institutions concerned with animal and fish resources. The department also works on providing training and extension services in the field of raising and caring for ruminant animals, dairy farming, poultry farms, and fish and shrimp farms. The study plan in this major is designed to qualify the student to obtain an academic degree that facilitates his/her participation in both the public and private sectors. Therefore, the Department of Livestock and Fish Production qualifies the student with the knowledge of basic and applied sciences in management, improving animal production, feed manufacturing technology and animal health and welfare. Additionally, it covers other aspects related to the development of aquatic living resources, such as planning and organizing fisheries and achieving optimal utilization of natural living resources in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea to increase animal protein production.

Department of Livestock and Fish Production should be distinguished and regionally leading in terms of the efficiency of the educational process, scientific research, contribution to community service and solving the problems of the animal and fish production sector.
Mission
Preparing highly competent graduates capable of competing regionally in the labour market in the fields of animal, poultry and fish production or as distinguished postgraduate students. In addition to effective research contribution to support scientific progress and contribute to support the national agriculture sector and community service.
Goals
Developing students’ applied scientific skills and abilities and encouraging them to self-learn, problem-solving and use modern technologies in the field of specialization to compete in the labour market.
Developing curriculums and periodic performance assessments to enhance the efficiency of the teaching and learning process.
Encouraging faculty members and graduate students to conduct scientific research and apply for research projects to advance the animal and fish production sector.
