Materials Engineering Program
Welcome to the Department of Materials
Engineering at King Faisal University, KSA. The Materials Engineering program
is the first in kind to be established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1442
Hijri (2021 Gregorian). Saudi Arabia, being an oil rich nation, has several oil
and natural gas industries, process industries, manufacturing industries, power
plants, and construction material plants etc. These industries require
engineers having a unique blend of knowledge in materials and mechanical
systems.
Materials engineering is essential
part of the future technological advancements. The factors that make the
materials engineering significant are economics, sustainability, development
trends, depletion of natural materials, research and developments and market
drive. In fact, material engineers are one of the biggest contributor in
technological advancement. There is a very bright future for material engineers
to work on producing cost effective materials and also to fulfill the regional
workforce requirements in line with the 2030 vision of the Kingdom. The scope
of the Material Engineering lays in range of public and private sector.
The department is pleased to start
accepting students in the second semester of the academic year 1442/1443 (Spring
2021/2022) after finishing their preparatory years at College of Engineering
Program.
