The royal approval for the establishment of the College of Applied Studies and Community Service at King Faisal University was issued on 26/2/1422 AH to meet the scientific and professional needs of the community. Subsequently, according to Decision No. (9/4/1442) dated 14/9/9/41442, approval was granted to transform community colleges, colleges of applied studies, and colleges of community service in universities into 'Applied Colleges.' Accordingly, the name of the college was modified to the 'Applied College,' headquartered in the university city, with two branches, one in Al-Ahsa and the other in Qatif.
In the context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which outlines the roadmap for economic and developmental work to make the Kingdom a leading model at all levels, striving for a prosperous future and sustainable development. The vision includes goals that reinforce the strategic direction of the Kingdom towards developing human resources, providing quality knowledge in priority areas, improving the readiness of youth for employment, expanding applied and professional training to meet the needs of the job market, and enhancing the outputs of the education and training system at all stages from early education to lifelong continuous education. This aims to reach global standards through education, qualification, and training programs that address the rapidly evolving and renewable development needs, keeping pace with the requirements of the era and development needs.
In line with these principles, the College of Applied Studies at King Faisal University seeks to achieve its goals by focusing on the student, aligning with development targets and the private sector. This includes directing students to the job market more quickly and expanding the targeted categories, including high school graduates, job seekers, and those already employed. Additionally, the college has adopted the concept of transitioning from theoretical education to applied education. Recognizing that the job market is one of the primary beneficiaries of the college's outputs, it allows the private sector to participate in shaping the college's plans and programs, collaborating in training, qualification, and then employment.
The work at the Applied College relies on innovative methodologies, strategies, and tools to address challenges, seize opportunities, and leverage strengths in resources and infrastructure within King Faisal University. The college has adopted effective planning tools, private sector engagement, result-based performance evaluation, and setting phased targets for programs and specializations according to current and future needs. The college seeks to activate and enhance the role of diploma degrees, making them an effective element with high outputs compatible with the needs of the job market. This is achieved by focusing on specializations that contribute to the national economy and align with the Vision 2030, where investing in human capital is considered a successful investment and a key element in a knowledge-based economy.
