Article (21): works that may be published in the university include the following:
A: Theses
B: Scientific Research
C: Curricular Textbooks
D: Books and References
E: Translations of references, Textbooks etc.
F: Authentications.
G: Scientific Encyclopedias and Dictionaries
H: Any work that the Scientific Council finds suitable for publishing and comply with university objectives.
Article (22): After the approval of Scientific Council, MA and PhD theses, which have scientific importance or benefits to the kingdom, can be published.
Article (23): The scientific council sets an award for the translation of a thesis written in a foreign language if the members see that it is important to publish it in Arabic.
Article (24): Theses approved by other universities inside and outside the kingdom can be published if they serve the goals of the university.
Article (25): An award of 8000 riyals is awarded to the author for publishing an MA thesis. The award is 15000 riyals for a PhD thesis.
Article (26): The Scientific Council examines the products offered to the university such as researches, authorships, translations, or investigations to decide its authenticity and consistency with the objectives of the university.
Article (27): The Scientific Council sets detailed bylaws that govern the publication of any scientific product as stated in Article 21 of this Regulation.
Article (28): The scientific product to be published is subjected to peer review by two peer reviewers at least. The Scientific Council sets the bylaws and the detailed procedures of peer review, editing, and revision.
Article (29): The Scientific Council rewards authors, reviewers, and translators according to the reports of referees about the topic, scientific value, and effort exerted in the production of the work. The reward should not exceed 50,000 riyals for every book.
Article (30): Rewards for writing or translating encyclopedias or encyclopedic works are determined according to the plan and procedures approved by the Scientific Council. The reward should not exceed 50,000 riyals for every volume.
Article (31): A reward, not more than 2000 riyals per book, is awarded to the person who assigned to examine or judge books, no matter if he was from inside or outside the university.
Article (32): A reward, not more than 2000 riyals per book, is awarded to the person who makes the linguistic corrections (proofreaders) for books published by the university.
Article (33): A reward is awarded to the person who participates in refereeing and reviewing researches submitted for academic promotion. The reward does not exceed 500 riyals for every research paper, and not exceeding 3000 riyals for the whole submitted work.
Article (34): The writer/translator has to correct the printed versions and prepare full indices, and he shall be given 100 copies of his university printed work.
Article (35): In case of translations, the work should conform to the following conditions:
A- The translated work should be of scientific or applicable importance.
B- The translated work should be reviewed by at least one specialist.
C- The translator and the reviewer shall be excellent in both Source Language (SL) and Target Language (TL) of the translated book.
D- The translator should abide by the comments and corrections proposed by the reviser.
E- The rights of translation and publication should be purchased before starting to work.
Article (36): The reward granted to the Author/translator for the publishing of the book shall be considered a ceding of his/her right to print the book for five years starting from the date of the Scientific Council approval of printing the work.
Article (37): When a work that was printed before by the university is reprinted, the author/translator is dealt with as follows:
A: Authors/translators who produced the following works do not have any rewards in case of reprinting: works produced within scientific projects financed by the university, works that the university purchased their copyrights for ever, or pre-paid projects assigned by the university to vacated faculty members.
B: In case of reprinting works that the university purchased its copyrights previously, the authors/translators receive rewards not more than the sum they received before.
Article (38): Rights of publishing are reserved to the university for five years. If the author updated the work into a new edition, the Scientific Council sets a reward for the addition after referees' approval.
Article (39): After the five-year period of the publication contract, the copyrights are transferred to the writer/translator or his/her heirs. Republishing takes place according to a special agreement with the university.
Article (40): the Scientific Council has the right to reconsider the republishing of a work never published by the university before, or became out of print if it has a special scientific value, and sets a reward for that.
