Department of Restorative Dental Science:
The Department of Restorative Dental Science includes three divisions namely, Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Dental Materials.
Operative Dentistry:
Operative Dentistry deals with the art and science of the assessment, prevention and treatment of diseases and defects of the hard tissues of teeth in order to restore proper tooth morphology, function, esthetics and harmonious relationship with the surrounding tissues. The common problems for instance, dental caries, malformed, discolored or fractured teeth are addressed in this discipline.
The mission of the Division of Operative Dentistry is to achieve the academic goals of the university through excellent teaching, quality patient care and world-class research. Our primary goal is to enrich the preclinical operative experience of our students and provide up to date knowledge and clinical training to undergraduate students in the discipline of Operative Dentistry.
Endodontics :
Endodontics deals with the morphology, physiology and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues. The objective of the endodontic division is to facilitate the dental students to learn basic principles of endodontics and their clinical application so as to diagnose and treat most pulpally and periradicular involved teeth with self-confidence, and with a high success rate.
Dental Materials :
The main purpose of this division is to provide the students with basic knowledge of Dental Materials with regard to their structure, behavior, manipulation as well as applications. Moreover, students are given a hands-on training of all materials in the pre-clinical laboratories, which will ultimately result in the deliverance of quality dental treatment in a community
