Introduction to training:
To upgrade health services in the UK is seeking, the Faculty of Health Science in Al-Ahsa seeks the highest possible levels, through the development of educational and training programs and providing better ways and means of modern technology relaying on the constant follow up and evaluation and the monitoring preparing the laboratory training officer as well as finding the best available opportunities for field application in the health facilities and coordination with the concerned departments for so, to provide a congenial atmosphere for the processes of continues education and training.
Since the main objectives sought by the practical programs for laboratory and field training, are to link the knowledge the students acquired during applying the theoretical lectures, the process which represents the main foundation in adopting those goals, that would help in preparing technical and national cadres of a high level of technical competence in the various health disciplines which can engage in the work assigned to, within the health team as required.
Training Objectives
1. Practicing the field work for the actually graduates in the proper work location and undertaking the functional responsibilities and duties.
2. Identify the technical qualitative capabilities for students and their occupational orientation in the area of their specialties to guide them to work in the places where they excel at.
3. Developing the capacity and skill acquired by the student through studying in the Faculty and communicating same with the functional tasks of the graduates.
4. Deepening the sense of association for the professional and working as an active member within the health team.
5. Meeting the needs of the health affairs of trained technical personnel in various fields of health.
6. Raising the technical competence of graduates by giving them the chance to practicing their actual field work sites appropriate to their specializations and undertaking their functional responsibilities and duties before being appointed, relying on them (i.e., qualifying graduates to do his job at best in offering the health services as it should.
The general rules for intensive training (Excellency)
1. The Excellency period is considered an essential phase the faculties of health and attended by all students after passing the tests of the sixth semester successfully.
2. The implementation period of the training program is twenty four weeks, eight hours daily whereas that period is distributed to stages according to every specialization?
3. The graduate shall not be granted the graduation degree from the Faculty until after passing all stages of intensive training successfully and of a percentage not less than 70% in each stage and consequently in the general grade and in the case of failing at any stage the student must re-train this stage and records in the evaluation form.
4. The training programs should be implemented in health facilities or in the relevant facilities, in which the trainee is to follow the training instructions just like any other administrative and technical professional, in respect of presence, departure and shifts.
5. Training outside the Kingdom is not approved for any reason.
6. The trainee shall assign any functional tasks performed by the technician as to apply the program in the method of the actual practice for the functional tasks specified in the description of every specialty.
7. The trainee during the training period shall be under direct supervision of a technician or specialist and with the presence of the head of department in training facility and the training coordinator in the faculty, all participating constantly in the evaluation of the trainee an d directing same during the training the performed the assigned tasks. The training Coordinator must pay a visit to his at least facility twice a week.
8. If the trainee absence percentage exceeded 10% at any stage, the trainee shall be warned in-writing by the university and if the absence rate exceeded 20% at any of the training stage, the trainee will redo such stage, by being added to the time allocated for training.
9. Receive the actually receives from the training facility an official approved statement of the trainee absence from the training facility monthly and all the absence will be at the expense of the monthly bonus.
10. Bad manners and attitudes will be reported to the Faculty which will take the appropriate decision that will be filed to the institutions General Department and the health faculties’ approval.
Deferment of training:
A - A trainee may postpone the training for one semester after filling the form of deferral and the approval of the Dean on the reasons of delay.
B - The trainee monthly bonus will be suspended during the training postponement.
Evaluation rules:
First:
The trainee is to be evaluated on daily bases by checking off before the trainee deserved mark in the evaluation form.
Second:
If the trainee scored less than (6) marks in technical efficiency, it will not be counted with the daily marks as in the form (weekly Assessment).
Third:
At the end of each week the supervisor in charge the daily evaluation marks and count the results as follows:(Score of week ×100) ÷ (5×20)taking into consideration not to count the efficiency marks in the week if less than (36) from the total technical efficiency marks (60) and give a zero.
Fourth:
At the end of each stage the marks obtained by the trainee shall be counted (weekly assessment) and entering in the application the stage evaluation which is based upon, the supervisor decides for the trainee to pass the stage or retake it if the score was less than (70%) at least at the end of the stage. Or for exceeding the specified absence ratio.
Fifth:
The stage evaluation marks are to be counted in the final evaluation form for the trainee and then the general evaluation of the intensive training period (semester of excellence) which is calculated as follows:

Excellent 90% - 100%
Very Good 80% - less than 90%
Good 70% - less than 80%
