His Excellency, KFU President inaugurates the system of preparing the Electronic Schedules (Jadawel)

His Excellency, President of King Faisal University Dr. Muhammad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali inaugurated the system of preparing Electronic Schedules (Jadawel) on Wednesday 6-5-1441 H., corresponding to 1-20-2020. Their Excellencies Vice-president for Academic Affairs Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Al-Najjar, Vice-president for Studies, Development and Community Service Dr. Mohanna Abdullah Al-Dulami, Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Al-Fraidan and Dean of Information Technology Dr. Hassan Shajaa Alkahtani attended this occasion.
His Excellency the President of the University explained that the university is going on in clear and steady steps towards achieving the digital transformation, which is one of the main goals of the Kingdom's 2030 vision. HE stated that undoubtedly, this system will support the goals for achieving a digital society based on interaction and improving the quality of life, and a digital economy based on providing comprehensive digital services to the faculty members, employees, and students.
For his part, Dr. Al-Dulami praised the implementation of this project, expressing his happiness at the keenness of the KFU President on implementing digital transformation projects and ensuring their effectiveness and attainment of the national plan for digital transformation. HE added that this system would constitute a pioneering step in organizing and preparing the courses' schedules in an electronic way using the latest international technology in this field. This system will serve both students and faculty members, reducing the percentage of overlapping in distributing lectures and tests to different classrooms. Throughout these characteristics, this system will save time and effort and raise the efficiency of the academic process at the university.
His Excellency, Dr. Alkahtani provided a technical presentation on the stages of implementing this system, which is one of the most prominent outputs supporting the university's operational plan. HE showed that the system seeks to organize the way of the scheduling the academic process in all colleges of the university in a digital way using the artificial intelligence technology and a set of algorithms, which predict a set of factors that ultimately aim to save the student's time and ensure the operational efficiency for all classrooms. The system will also reduce the percentage of human intervention, the matter that ensures producing schedules without errors in terms of the organization according to time and place. In addition, the system provides a cloud timetabling service that works in parallel with the flexibility of the cloud system in terms of remote access and automated versions and decreases the total cost of the university. Dr. Alkahtani also clarified that the system will facilitate the way to reserve and view the halls that are available in the university and those, which are not related to the lectures' table times. This previous knowledge about the status of the halls helps in using them for training workshops and other activities at the university. Another feature of this system is that it also allows issuing reports on the process of scheduling academic business inside the university.
At the end of his presentation, Dr. Alkahtani extended his sincere thanks to the President of the University and His Excellency the Vice-President for Studies, Development and Community Service for their unlimited support in implementing development projects related to the digital transformation for the university's different departments. HE also thanked the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and the Deanship of Admission and Registration for their cooperation, interest and valuable opinions during the project implementation phase.
