Intensive English (1703-102)
I.Course Description
This course focuses on improving students’ skills in the areas of reading comprehension, writing, grammar, listening, and oral communication. It develops the skill of using skimming and scanning for main ideas and specific information as well. It teaches students how to use capitalisation and punctuation;write complete simple and compound sentences; recognise the parts of a paragraph; brainstorm, outline, write a basic formal paragraph; and use transitional phrases in paragraphs. It improves basic interpersonal communication skills through extensive conversation and speaking practice by means of a variety of learning techniques, including group and pair exercises, role-plays, interviews, etc. The course will also help students improve their listening skills and expand their vocabulary while they develop and practice their pronunciation.
II.Course Objectives
This course aims at helping the students to:

- Use capitalisation and punctuation correctly.

- Practice basic and intermediate grammar structures in various situations.
