Criteria for accepting written books



First: Standards for the written book (reference/cultural):
  

         • The reference book must be of scientific value and rare in its field of specialization.

         • That the cultural book be of general benefit to the university and the local community of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and that

               It is consistent - as much as possible - with the institutional identity of the university.

         • The authored book (reference/cultural) must receive recommendation from at least two specialized professors, chosen by the scientific department from within or outside it.
• The author should mention the reasons that prompted him to write the book, his goals behind it, as well as the target group, in his application for the scientific section.

         • The author of the book must adhere to the ethics of scientific research and take into account intellectual property rights.

         • The authored book must not have been previously published - partially or completely - in any of the various publishing outlets.

         • The subject of the book to be written must be related to recent scientific developments in his field of specialization. The Center and its Board of Directors may recommend exceptions to this condition depending on the importance of the book, provided that the reason behind this must be stated.
• The material of the written book should not conflict with the legal constants, moral values, and prevailing rules and regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

         • Health books written must be of an educational, awareness-raising nature, especially books that deal with emerging pandemic epidemics and chronic diseases.
• Scientific, engineering, and computer books. The percentage of equations, mathematical formulas, or computer programs must not exceed 50% of the total book written.
 
 
Second: Criteria for the lead author:

         • The main author must be an employee of King Faisal University.

         • The academic degree of the main author must not be less than that of “assistant professor,” or its equivalent in health colleges.

         • The main author himself must not be associated with writing or translating another book and publishing it through the center (publishing two books at the same time).

         • The lead author must have an acceptable CV in his or her specific field of specialization.


Criteria for accepting translated books


First: Standards for the translated book (reference/cultural):
• The translated reference book must be of scientific value and rare in its field of specialization.

         • The translated cultural book must be of general benefit to the university, and be consistent with the university’s identity as much as possible.

         • The book to be translated (reference/cultural) must receive recommendation from at least two specialized professors, chosen by the scientific department from within or outside it.

         • The book to be translated (reference/cultural) must not have been previously translated into Arabic.

         • The translator should mention the reasons that prompted him to translate the book - especially the social educational goals - and his goals in his request for the scientific section, as well as the target group.
 
• The translator of the book must adhere to the ethics of scientific research and take into account intellectual property rights.

         • The (reference/cultural) book to be translated must be recent; So that the publication date of its first edition does not exceed seven years from the date the translator submits his translation request to the Scientific Department Council.

         • In the event that there are multiple editions of the book (reference/cultural) to be translated, it is required to translate its most recent edition.

         • The material of the book (reference/cultural) to be translated should not conflict with the legal constants, moral values, and rules and regulations prevailing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
 
• Translated educational health books, from which books are selected that have an educational awareness nature, especially books that address emerging pandemic epidemics and chronic diseases.

         • Scientific, engineering, and computer books. The percentage of equations, mathematical formulas, or computer programs must not exceed 50% of the book.
 
 
Second: Standards for the main translator:

         • The main translator must be an employee of King Faisal University.

         • The academic rank of the main translator should not be less than the rank of “assistant professor,” or its equivalent in health colleges.

         • The main translator must not be associated with translating or writing another book through the center (publishing two books simultaneously).

         • The main translator must have previously published at least two research papers in the English language. Or the translator must provide proof of his possession of translation tools (from a foreign language to Arabic, or vice versa), such as certificates or accredited qualifications.
