The College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Al-Ahsa, affiliated with Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, was established in 1401 AH pursuant to Royal Decree No. (6366) and included five departments: Sharia, Fundamentals of Religion, Arabic Language, Administration, and Geography.
It includes a distinguished elite of faculty members in the specializations required to teach study plans that are developed according to the best scientific standards.
A large number of distinguished students graduated from the college, who received from the college’s wellspring of science and knowledge. It was a fertile source at the local and Gulf levels for appointing judges, notaries, memorizers of the Book of God, imams, educational teachers, legal advisors, and administrative assistants who contributed to advancing the wheel of development in our dear homeland. Then the field was opened for female students to study in the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies through the affiliation system in the departments of Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion.
In the academic year 1432 AH/1433 AH, regular studies were opened for female students in the Departments of Sharia, Fundamentals of Religion, Computers, and English Language.
In the year 1442 AH, the University Affairs Council issued its decision No. (1442/3/10) approving the annexation of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies to King Faisal University.
In its new form, the college includes four departments at the bachelor’s level for male and female students for the academic year 1445 AH: the Sharia Department, the Fundamentals of Religion Department, the Islamic Studies Department, and the Jurisprudence Department (a supporting department for the College of Law in which there is no bachelor’s degree acceptance).
