Program Overview
The Master of Science in Finance program is offered by the Department of Finance at the College of Business Administration. The program aims to equip students with knowledge related to finance and its applications to contemporary business developments and issues in a constantly changing environment. It also enhances the skills needed for effective analysis, evaluation, and development of financial management in business sectors. The program is designed with a comprehensive curriculum that includes core courses and a wide range of electives. These courses cover all aspects of the modern financial industry, meeting today’s demands (e.g., corporate finance, financial engineering, financial markets, investment, behavioral finance, and more). The program was designed by the Department of Finance in response to the Saudi academic and professional community’s need for highly qualified national professionals. These graduates will be equipped to pursue advanced graduate studies, such as PhD programs, or to work efficiently and effectively in the rapidly growing and evolving local financial market. The program also contributes to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes significantly enhancing investment within the Kingdom. The Master of Science in Finance program will support this sector and others by producing highly qualified students and professionals. The program targets recent graduates holding a bachelor’s degree who seek to deepen their academic knowledge in finance. It also targets professionals working in the financial sector within private companies and government organizations who wish to enhance their skills and career opportunities in the financial industry.
Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements • Fulfillment of the admission requirements stated in the unified regulations for graduate studies in Saudi universities, as well as the rules and procedures governing graduate studies at King Faisal University. • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (regular study) in finance, accounting, or economics from a Saudi university or any other recognized university. • The applicant must provide two academic recommendations from professors who have previously taught them. • The applicant must pass the program’s personal interview. • If employed, the applicant must submit an approval letter from their employer to pursue studies.
Degree Requirements
• Completion of the required mandatory credit hours specified by the Department of Finance or other relevant departments. • Completion of the elective credit hours required by the program. • Completion of the credit hours allocated for the research project. • Fulfillment of all approved credit hours with a cumulative GPA of no less than “Very Good” (3.75 out of 5 or equivalent). • Completion of the Master’s degree within four semesters, with a maximum allowed duration of eight semesters.
