*Fisheries Research Center: Organizational and Procedural Guide

- Organizational connection:

The center is administratively affiliated with His Excellency the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.

-General goal:

Administrative and technical supervision of everything related to specialized research activities in the field of fisheries in accordance with the rules and regulations in force at the university.

- mission:

1-Implementing the plans, programs and budget for the center’s activities after their approval.
2-Conducting research related to fish resources.
3-Supporting researchers and assisting graduate students.
4-Holding training courses and workshops for those interested in the field of fisheries.
5-Providing technical and scientific consultations in the field of fisheries research.
6-Preparing and reviewing feasibility studies for fish farming projects.
7-Community cooperation and partnerships with sectors interested in fisheries.
8-Spreading and encouraging the culture of optimal consumption of marine life and raising awareness of the importance of preserving them.
9-Preparing periodic reports on the center’s activities and achievements and submitting development proposals.
10-Determine the center’s needs for researchers and administrators and attract scientific expertise and competencies
11-Carrying out any other tasks in the field of fisheries.

- Center Manager:

Scientific, administrative and financial supervision of the center to ensure proper work performance.
Distributing work to the center’s employees according to what is required by the interest of the work.
Proposing means and methods that contribute to the effectiveness of developing the work of the center.
Issuing introductory brochures about the center and research plans and programs approved by the center’s board of directors in coordination with the concerned authorities.
Recommending contracts with experts, technical and administrative staff, and the necessary labor for the center according to a plan approved by the center’s board of directors, as well as recommending canceling or not renewing their contracts after this is approved by the center’s board of directors.
Approval of records of receipt of devices, equipment, and items secured to the center.
Signing disbursement requests from the university’s main warehouse.
Coordination with relevant authorities regarding the Center’s projects and research.
Preparing plans for the center and submitting a periodic report on the progress of work, problems, difficulties and proposals to the center’s council to take what it deems appropriate.
Approval of granting regular and emergency leaves to the center’s employees.
Reporting the commencement of work to the center’s employees and providing the follow-up division at the station with a copy of that, as well as notifying the follow-up division of cases of delay, absence, and abandoning work to take the necessary legal measures.
Preparing job performance calendars for the center’s employees and then submitting them to the authorized person for approval.
Direct contact with government departments, departments, and others regarding everything within his jurisdiction, taking into account the job level.

- The Center’s Board of Directors:

Proposing an annual research plan and preparing the necessary draft budget.

Studying the research projects of faculty members and their equivalents and following up on their implementation.

Studying research projects and studies requested by entities outside the university, selecting researchers, following up on their implementation, and proposing rewards for those conducting them in accordance with the rules regulating that.

Recommending spending from the established research budget within the limits of the powers regulating that.

Study the annual report, final account, and draft budget of the center and submit it to the competent authority.

Study what is referred to it by the Council of the Deanship of Scientific Research.


- Administrative and Financial Affairs Unit:

Administrative supervision.
Follow up on the attendance and departure of employees at the center.
Supervising the organization of annual vacations for employees.
Supervising and following up on contractors’ procedures.
Follow up on the work and tasks assigned to employees until they are completed.
Receiving incoming transactions to the center and creating new transactions.
Copying and printing outgoing and incoming letters.
Archiving, organizing and saving transactions.
Receiving visitors and preparing the necessary equipment.
Preparing periodic reports on the center and its activities.

- Financial supervision:

Supervising and receiving the annual financial advance allocated to the center.
Filling out forms and records related to the administration’s financial affairs and covenants.
Filling out the records of purchase requests in the electronic financial system.
Follow up on purchase requests and study offers with the concerned authorities.
Receiving materials and preparing receipt records.
Preparing periodic reports for concerned parties.
Carrying out an inventory and counting of assets and possessions.

- Media supervision:

Managing and updating the center’s website on the university portal.
Managing the center’s website on social media platforms.
Fulfilling the required comments from the concerned authorities.
Technical supervision of exhibitions, meetings, and follow-up with relevant authorities.
Coordinating and writing news and covering activities and events.
Documenting and preserving the activities and events in which the center participated, with photos and evidence.

- Scientific Research Unit:

Proposing new research projects in accordance with the center’s annual plan.
Preparing research proposals and following up on their implementation.
Supervising the research of students and researchers.
Follow up on ongoing research and prepare the necessary technical reports.
Scientific publishing in prestigious, high-impact scientific journals.
Coordinating participation in scientific conferences and seminars.
 

- Training and Development Unit:

Developing training and development plans for the center’s employees.
Organizing workshops and training courses in the field of fisheries.
Proposing training courses in the field of fisheries for students, researchers and those interested.
Studying training requests transferred from other parties for training within the center.
Supervising the training of students and those interested from outside the university.
Coordinating with relevant authorities to hold training courses.

- Guidance unit:

Proposing and preparing awareness and introductory programs about the importance of fish wealth
Preparing informational and educational publications and publications about fish resources
Organizing awareness and educational activities about fish resources.
Field visits to projects and fish farms
Providing consultations to defendants and farmers in the field of fisheries sciences.

- Aquatic Biology Research Unit:

Carry out routine work and follow up on cleaning the tanks.
Feeding living organisms and monitoring their growth.
Preparing for spawning and producing aquatic organisms.
Monitoring and maintaining water quality.
Follow up on research experiments and assist researchers.
Monitor and maintain culture systems periodically.
Submitting periodic reports on the condition of the hatchery and aquatic organisms.
Increasing the needs of aquatic organisms and feed.
Apply biosecurity measures and maintain the safety of living aquatic organisms.
Follow safety measures inside the laboratory and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory.

- Research laboratories unit:

Carrying out routine work inside laboratories and following up on the status of equipment.
Request the necessary maintenance in the event of a malfunction.
Conducting water quality analyzes for aquatic organisms.
Carrying out the required analyzes and measurements inside the laboratory.
Submitting periodic reports on the status of laboratories and consumable materials.
Carrying out annual inventory of laboratory equipment and tools.
Supplying the required requirements of chemicals and devices.
Follow safety measures inside laboratories and maintain their organization and cleanliness.
Training researchers to use the devices while following safety measures inside the laboratories.
