Chemical Engineering Program
I am honored to welcome you to the
website of the Chemical Engineering (ChE) department at King Faisal University
(KFU) in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. The ChE department was launched in 2011, to
cater for the ever-increasing demand of qualified chemical engineers for the
booming Saudi industry, and the first students' cohort graduated in May 2014.
The program is accredited till
September 2021 by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of the
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), which assures that
the program prepares its graduates to meet the quality standards of their
profession. "The department has well equipped laboratory facilities,
excellent student-faculty interactions and robust assessment process for
continuous improvement" the ABET program evaluator (PEV) remarked during
his campus visit.
The department houses elite faculty
members and staff, laboratory specialists and teaching assistants. The ChE
program is supported by well-equipped laboratories in the areas of
thermodynamics, reaction engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, solid particulates,
mass transfer, unit operations, process dynamics and control, computer-aided
design (CAD) and a multi-purpose research lab.
The ChE teaching staff are actively
engaged in a wide range of research areas including, but not limited to,
transport phenomena, reaction engineering and catalysis, optimization,
desalination and water treatment, optimization and numerical simulation,
adsorption, multiphase flow and enhanced oil recovery.
Currently, the department offers a
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in chemical engineering. However, Master of
Science (M.Sc.) and Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) programs will be launched
