Department overview
The Department of Special Education was established in the College of Education King Faisal University: In the first semester of the academic year 1425 AH/2004 AD, the duration of study in the department is four years, after which the male or female student obtains a bachelor’s degree in special education in one of the following specialized tracks: hearing disability, mental disability, learning difficulties, giftedness and excellence.
The department aims to prepare and qualify special education teachers to work with people with special needs at the primary and intermediate levels in the special education institutes affiliated with these two entities, as well as to work in the private sector such as charitable organizations that provide educational services to the disabled and private schools that have special education programs.
A large number of male and female teachers have graduated from the department and are now working in specialized fields, whether in the government or private sector, in order to raise the level of special education services provided to children with special needs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In addition, the Department of Special Education offers a master’s program in the specializations of: hearing disability, mental disability, learning difficulties, giftedness and excellence. The department also aspires in its next plan to expand its academic programs by expanding master’s programs by opening specific specialized tracks in preparation for opening programs.
