The Islamic Studies Department
Department head’s speech
Praise be to Allah, the One who taught by the pen, and taught humanity what it did not know. Peace and blessings be upon the one who was granted comprehensive speech and upon his family and companions, the possessors of high aspiration.
It is a great favor and a beautiful gift that Allah combines in the curriculum of the Islamic Studies Department pearls of beneficial knowledge that establish the concepts of moderation, balance, and the essence of religion. It embodies the meanings of scientific formation that establishes an enlightened formation for the student's personality based on the Book and the Sunnah, which is a religious requirement and an essential pillar. It equips students to face, after their graduation, those purposeful assaults that target our beliefs, culture, and intellectual security with their venomous fangs. Students fortify themselves within their strongholds against the cold wars that breed intellectual extremism, assault awareness, and detract from the spirit of tolerance, harmony, love, and concord.
It is a tremendous blessing that the department flourishes with various postgraduate programs. Among them are specialized master's programs such as the Jurisprudence and its Principles program, the Quran and Sunnah program, and the Islamic Creed and Contemporary Sects program. Additionally, there are two Ph.D. programs, one in Jurisprudence and the other in Interpretation.
It is a remarkable favor that the Islamic Studies Department at the College of Arts is enriched with eminent scholars possessing vast academic and societal experience acquired throughout their extensive years. They aid us in laying a new foundation in the realm of knowledge, continuing the legacy of those who preceded us, and they fulfill their assigned duties in the best possible manner.
Our blessed department was established in the College of Education, later merging into the College of Arts upon its establishment. Throughout its history, the department has been led by several faculty members:
